I'm a 27 year old writer living on the East Coast of the USA. My favorite thing to do is to watch too much tv and then overanalyze the shit out of it. Sometimes I put my thoughts here, as well as my original writing and other odds & ends.
And her catching him cheating didn't bother me, since it's not the reason she left him. I think it was put in the narrative to make it easier for her in terms of dealing with the aftermath of breaking up with him -- the judgement of neighbors and coworkers and casual friends. (She's already really lucky that her family is loving and open-minded enough to understand.)
But yeah, I agree. What makes You Qing and Li Da Ren so lovable for me is the fact they are so genuinely flawed. They hurt other people, not always with the best of intentions. But they get called on it and make amends.
And poor, Maggie. Before I was able to watch the show itself, I read episode recaps written by someone who just completely villainized her and it made me sad. She was young, desperate, and a little pathetic, but not crazy or awful. Li Da Ren thoughtlessly took advantage of that -- definitely a punchable offense.
