Chapter 10

Fanny's optimism/naivete kind of makes me eyeroll. I did enjoy the discussion between Mary and Edmund (and am now picturing Edmund as a social justice blogger lmao).

Poor Fanny. She and Edmund had a sweet moment about the stars, and then he got distracted by the glee.

Hahah I had to quickly skim the chapter to remember, but it's mostly in his comment about how she's condemning the whole of the clergy based on knowing only a few clergymen. Just like you can't condemn all Muslims because a few are labeled as "terrorists" or all black people because you were mugged by a black man once. Don't judge the whole based on a small part is a (more or less) universal truth, but social justice people are just the first thing to pop into my head.

I see! It does sound just like those liberal conversations.

I personally don't mind generalizations about the clergy much, because they're such a powerful force here, and all generalizations aren't equal.
