Awesomely cool watching along/analysis of the first two Korra eps. I thought it was really interesting how they connected the evolution of bender privilege with the status of benders in the first series.
I gotta ask, though - am I the only one convinced Amon has an agenda that's separate from the Equalist agenda? /sits alone and lonely in her conspiracy theory corner
THANK GOODNESS! I've read a lot of people who are kind of concerned since Amon & the Equalists are the villains and ostensibly a social justice movement, but I'm like "there's NO WAY Amon is just a radical Equalist." The angry Equalist in the Square and Amon's masked henchmen just can't be in the same league.
I think that Amon will turn out to be manipulating what is at root a serious and needed movement.
I also have a feeling that after a rocky start, Korra herself will begin to see some of the value in the true heart of the equalist (as opposed to anti-bending) movement.
Yessss. I think one of the characters that hasn't been introduced yet is supposed to be an Equalist/Equalist-sympathetic, without being anti-bending, but that could be me mixing up fanon with spoilers. I do hope we get someone who points out that benders hold a disproportionate amount of political power.
I so want him to not even be anti-bender. "Benders? I don't have anything against benders. That was just an easy way to RALLY THE MASSES BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH"
