| On the flip side, I am stupid happy with this chapter. Needs hella revising, but it was such a beautiful breeze to write. ( Read more... ) |

| Among many, many other things I'm failing at. But another piece of the crossover I'm theoretically working on. Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project -- published, submitted, in progress, for your cat -- whatever."I don't understand why you're so bad at this," Ikki said with her usual tact, and yelped when Jinora kicked her. "What?"
"Maybe if you think about it like water," Jinora said, shooting a glare at her little sister.
"But it's air," Korra said. "They're two completely different elements."
"Jinora's right," Taya said. "Perhaps if you focused on how air is similar to water, you can connect to it." |

| Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project -- published, submitted, in progress, for your cat -- whatever."My mother was killed when I was very small," Asami said quietly. "By a couple of Triple Threats looking to make a name for themselves."
"I'm sorry," Korra said, not sure what else she could say.
Asami shrugged it off. "Gangs are a real problem here," she said. "Mako and Bolin lost their parents to a gang too. And like it or not, most gang members are benders." |

| Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project -- published, submitted, in progress, for your cat -- whatever. You trained with the best of the best, she reminded herself. And numbers aren't always an advantage. Unless they were trained to fight as a cohesive unit, the gang members were just as likely to beat up their friends as they were to hit her. They had to be careful who they hit, while she could hit anybody. You have the advantage.
She also had Naga. |

| Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project -- published, submitted, in progress, for your cat -- whatever.Troy didn't know, and that worried him. He and Abed had promised each other that they would never lie or keep secrets from one another unless Joss Whedon or Batman asked them to, and Abed wasn't the kind of guy to break a promise.
But after the Great Pillow War, they had also promised to cut each other some slack, because things happen and people make mistakes. So Troy had to trust that whatever secret Abed was keeping, he would loop them in soon.
"He'll tell us when he's ready," he told Annie. "Wanna make some cookies?" From a Community fanfic I may someday finish. Someday. But probably not. Someday I'll post actual content again. Life continues to be life-like. |

| Each Sunday, post six sentences from a writing project -- published, submitted, in progress, for your cat -- whatever."A woman's office?" Her voice was an ominous whisper, but it quickly rose to a crescendo. "Is manhood truly such a delicate thing? I had thought it as hard and sturdy as a Bolivian cactus, but it seems you are as fragile as a snake lily. Shall you retire to the hothouse, and shall my gardner tend to you? Her hands are soft and sweet; she would do much good for you." Much Ado About a Little Something, written for Yuletide 2012. I am stupidly proud of the penis joke. |

| Day 8In your own space, talk about setting yourself a fannish goal. Big or small, it doesn't matter. Some examples: complete a bingo, sign up for a Big Bang, write that fic you've been thinking about for years, podfic that story that you love, make a fanmix for your fandom, post that bit of meta or reclist you keep putting off. Maybe resolve to be better at leaving feedback or answering comments. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. Lawd I am terrible at keeping up with this. But hey, it's doing what I wanted it to do, which is get me back into blogging here. Anyhow! I have two goals for this day. First goal is this weekend, damn it, I will go through and read through other people's posts for Fandom Snowflake Challenge. Because there's not much point in doing this if I don't, right? You don't develop community if you don't participate. (Makes me miss my college days of fandom. I was much better about actually participating then. Not sure when that changed.) My other goal is to actually finish my Darker than Black/ Legend of Korra crossover. I'm really bad at finishing things that don't have deadlines...and even when I do have a deadline, I tend to write the shortest possible. But I'd like to at least once in my life write a decent-sized fanfic with a legit first draft that gets edited by beta-readers and then rewritten before being posted to the internet. So yes, my goal. 1) Write a first draft 2) Get beta readers to read it 3) Do honest legit real revisions 4) Profit Post Let's see how I do. |

| Day 2In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them. While We're Waiting by greenet ( Big Wolf on Campus) This is seriously one of the best fics I've ever read. It has the most adorable romance between Tommy and Merton, and stays true to the weird, campy, cracktastic shenanigans of the series. You don't even have to know the canon to enjoy it; I think it stands alone really well. A must-read for anyone who likes goofy horror and adorable gay boys. Chain of Evidence by moontyger ( 뱀파이어 검사 | Vampire Prosecutor) If you haven't seen VP, watch it. Now. I promise, it is not as silly as it sounds (nor is it as melodramatic angsty as seems to be required of anything involving vampires). Once you've watched it, read this story. With very little interaction, the author manages to capture the way all the characters relate to one another, and does a fabulous job imitating the atmosphere of the series. It's a really wonderful story. Stable Orbits by Blythe ( Guardian of the Sacred Spirit) One of my favorite things about the canon is the unconventional not-quite-romance between Balsa and Tanda, and their odd little family dynamic with Chagum. This story plays with it in a way that's absolutely delicious and sweet and satisfying. Day 4In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post. For years now, I've dreamed of someone doing a fanart of the ladies of Fullmetal Alchemist having a sleepover. Their own, special kind of sleepover, where Winry and Riza exchange techniques for keeping guns/automail clean and Sheska gives Gracia recipes she memorized from the library and I don't even know but I just really, really want all the ladies of FMA to hang out together. I'd also love a Doctor Who music video to the song "Those You've Known" from Spring Awakening, because I think that's the perfect song to describe his feelings towards all his companions. Finally, I would love a crossover between Avatar: The Last Airbender and Fullmetal Alchemist. Their worlds are so different, but thematically they're so compatible -- I feel a crossover would be a thing of beauty. |
